Beer Tasting - Blue Moon Cinnamon Horchata Ale

Color me surprised. The Blue Moon Cinnamon Horchata Ale has been sitting in the fridge for a decent amount of time. It was acquired in a mixed 12 pack and as a basic rule I do not enjoy beers that are spiced. This time I was wrong.

The cinnamon is barely noticeable but the honey certainly makes an appearance. This beer has nice mouthfeel, a generous head and a smooth taste. Really surprised by the taste. It is a sweetish wheat beer with just the hint of spice. I'd definitely have this again.

This is probably the first of the Blue Moon beers that have strayed from the original that I like.

A solid 4 beer steins. Huzzah!

  1. My boss recommended this one, and she has pretty good taste. I get the spice, and it is tasty, but the creaminess of horchata just doesn't seem to be there for me. I think I'll whip up some carnitas tacos tonight and wash them down with a couple more of these.

  2. See, I found this one to be a good ale but if I was handed this without the label I would never have guessed Horchata. It really has nothing uniquely "horchata" about it. Most of my disappointment was in the lost opportunity. This could have been something really great but it was just another (good) ale.
